Cotto Enoteca - 84%

Cotto Enoteca

Pizza Cotto and Pizza Polpetti

Cotto Enoteca is located in an unsuspecting part of town – on the far east end of Hastings Street, in north east Burnaby. My first impression was the sign out front that reads loud and orange, ‘Cotto’- serving as a beacon on this cold rainy night. Well, that… along with their boastfully gourmet pizza menu with some very appetising toppings, had this place up there on my list.

One word pretty much sums it up - Delicious! The crust was great, the pizza size was nice and large, the toppings were incredible, and the service was excellent! I ordered the chef’s signature ‘Pizza Cotto’ – potato, pancetta, fried brussel sprouts, gorgozola and fonduta. I know… brussel sprouts sound odd and I scrunched up my nose too! But I warn you, you have probably never had brussel sprouts that taste so good! They were such a great compliment to the other flavours on this pizza. Absolutely yum! My partner’s pizza, the ‘Pizza Polpetti’, was also delicious, but I think we both agreed that my pizza was far superior. Not to take away from the Polpetti, as the meatballs, ricotta, grana padano, spinach and basil on a tomato sauce, worked beautifully! Overall, we were very satisfied with this place. Eating the other half of our pizza for leftovers the next night also made it great value. I certainly recommend the trip down to Cotto… or stop by if you’re in the area. Can’t wait to go back myself!
